Mother’s Premature Death, AI Social Media Fraud: The Astonishing Silence of Mexican Singer Samuel Sarmiento

In the first week of September 2026, renowned Sinaloan singer Samuel Sarmiento deeply shocked his friends, fans, and the entire community by announcing the death of his beloved mother. A few days after this heartbreaking news, he revealed that a fraud attempt was being made against him. This was likely the first time such a new type of fake was used against him in the age of AI technology. In sharing this news, Samuel Sarmiento’s voice carried intense instability, which he himself acknowledged. This was a rarely observed event in Sinaloa’s music world, where such fraud is still unfamiliar. Through this incident, Samuel Sarmiento made an effort to alert his supporters on social media. He revealed that someone was trying to share information without his consent from his mother’s (Guadalupe Hernández Vega) request account. It is known that within a few days of his mother’s death, a call was made stating that money was needed to cover the costs of Samuel Sarmiento’s mother’s funeral. An attempt was made to fake the singer’s voice on the call. This is not a simple fraud, but rather a big issue in Sinaloa’s cultural world. Because ‘Música Regional’ is a massive art form of several generations in that region, there is great respect for people there. This respect has been exploited to operate the fund-raising process. Luis Ángel ‘El Flaco,’ a distinguished Sinaloan singer and member of ‘Banda Los Recoditos,’ along with other musicians, expressed their condolences to Samuel Sarmiento’s family. They noted that such incidents could deprive a person’s life of all happiness and welfare. Similar responses were also given on related social media posts. This event is not just a surprise for Mexican singers, but a new issue in the international world. Experts are saying that ‘AI-Voice Cloning’ is now a trend that can target not only singers but potentially any public figure in society. The use of this technology has created a new depth to fraud, which requires a careful eye. In summary, in this incident, Samuel Sarmiento himself advised his supporters to be aware of this issue. He informed that ‘whoever wants anything, should not trust those who want to send that money.’ In this silence, in this time, this Sinaloan singer is moving forward hand in hand with his supporters, turning the pain of his mother’s death into a warning. In his mother’s passing, he has taken responsibility as a public figure, with caution. For warning against rumors, it applies not only to Samuel Sarmiento. As a former member of ‘Banda Los Recoditos,’ the Sinaloan singer has advised his supporters for caution. In this silence and spreading the news, his voice was unfamiliar. In the entire Mexican music world, there is a clue in such silence. Samuel Sarmiento’s mother’s name is Guadalupe Hernández Vega. In his pain, and again in the sign of fraud, Samuel Sarmiento must be warned as a public figure. This silence is a sign.
